December 2002: The Rea Surname DNA Project has its first 12-marker match! Two Rheas able to confirm their common ancestry from DNA testing and traditional documentation. December 2003: The Rea Surname DNA Project Expands to Include All Variations of the Name MacRae. April 2004: Our Second 12/12 Match! A Rhea and a Rea have matched, indicating, among other things, that one or the other had a spelling change at some point in the line, which was carried on to the present. August 2004: Our Third 12/12 Match! This time, between a Rea and a McCrea, thus proving a probable link to the Clan MacRae, as well as lending credibility to the theory that some Reas were originally named MacRae (or, in this case, McCrea) and dropped the "Mac" or "Mc" when they left Scotland, probably at some point in the 1600s. This is a significant breakthrough, validating the inclusion of MacRaes (and variant spellings), back in December 2003. September 2004: Our Fourth 12/12 Match! January 2005: Our Fifth 12/12 Match! June 2005: Our Sixth 12/12 Match, the First Ever Between Three Members At Once! July 2005: Our Seventh 12/12 Match and the First Four-Way Match! August 2005: Our First 25-Marker Match! September 2005: Our Eighth 12/12 Match and Yet Another Link Between Reas and MacRaes! October 2005: Our Ninth 12/12 Match and Another 3-Way Match, As Well! November 2005: Our Tenth 12/12 Match! February 2006: Our First Five-Way 12/12 Match! March 2006: Our Eleventh 12/12 Match! April 2006: Our Twelfth 12/12 Match - and a three-way one, to boot! Our Thirteenth 12/12 Match - and Yet Another Four-Way Match! That's Two Multiple Matches in The Same Month! June 2006: Another Three-Way 12-Marker Match! July 2006: A Six-Way 12/12 Match! Also, a Five-Way 12/12 Match! October 2006: Another 12-Marker Match! December 2006: Yet Another 12-Marker Match! July 2007: Another 12-Marker Match! This time, Another Match to a MacRae, Proving, Once Again,The Surname Rea is Linked to The Clan MacRae by Blood Ties, Not Just Fraternal Relationships. September 2007: A First!
